Stealing the Bride

Stealing the Bride by Mary Wine

Roughly 100 pages

Description -

Acclaimed author Mary Wine proves that romance is never hotter than amid the rugged castles of distant Scotland.  .  .

Brawny and brave, Hayden Monroe is a laird in need of a wife and the beautiful Elspeth Leask shall be his. But he must bed her to wed her--and fully satisfy her deepest desires.  .  .

Four Stars

The story of Elspeth and Hayden was my first Highlander ebook. Perhaps I shouldn't have started with a novella. There is a lot to learn in these types of stories - clans, lairds, church rules, what is handfasting, border fights, etc. I enjoyed it all, but it moved along quickly. Hayden was super sexy and I liked Elspeth's sassy personality.

Mary Wine can write action scenes very well. That is for sure.

The story kind of took an odd turn with the "stealing the bride" section. It wasn't developed fully and the reader is moved past this quickly. Odd. If that is the title of the book I expect it to be more significant. And did one of the male characters have a peep hole into his sisters' bathroom? Eeew. So for that - my rating may fall closer to 3.5.

I will read more by Ms. Wine. I think a full novel will show me just how great this sub genre can be.

Find all of Mary Wine's books and ebooks on Amazon.  She has maaaaaany.

A Fun, Sexy Quick Rad.

Authors often put out novellas so readers can get a sampling of their writing style. As I've mentioned before, sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't. This one is a cute, flirty, sexy treat. I would definitely read more by this author.
At times it was difficult to believe the two main characters were so blind to each other's feelings, but I got over that. I downloaded this Kindle ebook

This author also has also written - The Jane Austen Academy Series.
"The Jane Austen Academy series are modern retellings of Jane Austen classics set at a beachside California boarding school."
Adding those to my TBR list.

Werewolf, Max Ritter notices the sassy nurse when he wakes after a night under the full moon. Unfortunately, his archrival is drawn to Janet as well. Four Stars
Finally a Rich Werewolf!
Perhaps I don't read enough were fiction, but I was so happy to see a rich werewolf. Max Ritter doesn't live in a shack in the woods, a compound, or a village in Alaska. Nope. He's a stinking rich dude living in a mansion in LA! Nice.
The story was fun, sexy, and action packed. I enjoyed the nurse angle and the witty banter between Max and Janet. A fun couple. The overall story of 'good versus evil wolf packs' was a bit rushed. Enjoyable, but I didn't get into it since everything unfolded quickly.
Thank you for the fun Kindle freebie. Great Wolfe fun. I will read more by this author since I liked her writing style and sense of humor.
This title has been offered as a freebie by the author quite often. Click here to see if it is still free.
It is also a part of a series - although this title wrapped up completely.
